Today we are celebrating National Walking Day, National Find a Rainbow Day, and National Chocolate Mousse Day!

National Walking Day encourages people of all ages to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle by incorporating walking into their daily routine. Walking offers numerous benefits for both physical and mental well-being.

National Find a Rainbow Day invites people to marvel at the beauty and magic of rainbows. It’s a day dedicated to chasing rainbows, both literally and metaphorically, reminding us to seek out the bright spots in life.

National Chocolate Mousse Day is a time to indulge in the velvety goodness of this classic dessert.  Whether you prefer it light and airy or rich and dense, there’s no denying the sheer bliss that comes with each mouthful.

Some Gen X influencers, entertainers, and celebrities celebrating April 3rd birthdays include:

Comedian, actor, and singer – Eddie Murphy who was born in New York City today in 1961.  48 Hours with Nick Nolte proved Murphy could hold an audience and make us laugh.  Trading Places with Dan Aykroyd and Beverly Hills Cop quickly followed.

Sebastian Bach was born in the Bahamas today in 1968.  Bach is the lead singer for the band Skid Row from 1987 to 1996.  After leaving Skid Row, Bach has appeared on TV and stage productions, was a member of the supergroup Big Noiz, and recently completed a solo tour where played songs from Skid Row’s Slave to the Grind.

Anthropologist and noted primatologist  – Jane Goodall was born today in 1934.  Recently, Goodall has been in entertainment news not for her amazing work understanding primates but because a contestant named Nymphia Wind did an accurate impersonation of Goodall in a RuPaul’s Drag Race comedy challenge.

Alec Baldwin was born in Amityville, New York 66 years ago.  Baldwin has been entertaining us Gen Xers on TV and movies since the 80s with roles on CBS’s Knots Landing; Beetlejuice; and Married to the Mob.  He played Jack Ryan in 1990’s The Hunt for Red October with co-stars Sean Connery, James Earl Jones, and Tim Curry.  Baldwin’s recent acting roles include: 30 Rock from 2006-13; Mission Impossible; and of course the voice of Boss Baby!

Actress Jennie Garth appeared in some 90’s TV classics including Parker Lewis Can’t Lose, Melrose Place, and 292 episodes of Beverly Hills 90210.   In 2006 she returned to BH 90210 in the FOX reboot.

Lollapalooza was officially canceled today in 1998.  The first tour in 1991 featured Jane’s Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

The first RealAudio Player was released today in 1995.  The software was one of the first that could be used to play various types of media files on computers.

The murder mystery Primal Fear starring Richard Gere and Edward Norton released today in 1996.  The movie is about a criminal defense lawyer played by Gere defending Norton (in one of his earlier roles) for a crime he may not have committed.  You can find out if he did it or not this month on PlutoTV.

Pearl Jam broadcast their concert live to around 300 radio stations across the country today in 1994.

On April 3rd, 1998:

  • The Lost in Space remake with Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, & Heather Graham  and, Mercury Rising with Bruce Willis and Alec Baldwin premiered in US theaters;
  • The progressive rock jam band Phish made entertainment news playing a 27 minute version of Roses are Free at the Nassau Coliseum; and
  • All my Life by K-Ci & JoJo jumps 14 positions on the hot 100 to knock Getting Jiggy Wit It by Will Smith from the number one spot on the Hot 100.
