Epilepsy Awareness Day, also known as Purple Day, is an annual event to raise awareness about epilepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent seizures.
Live Long and Prosper Day is a day dedicated to embracing the spirit of prosperity and well-being. Inspired by the iconic Vulcan greeting from Star Trek, Live Long and Prosper Day is celebrated on Leonard Nimoy’s birthday.
National Nougat Day is an occasion to indulge in the chewy, nutty goodness of this mouthwatering confection made from whipped egg whites, roasted nuts, and honey.

Guitarist James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins was born today in 1968. Iha co-founded the band in 1988 alongside Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin.
Actress Leslie Mann was born in San Francisco today in 1972. Mann got her big break when she appeared in The Cable Guy alongside Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick. She would go on to play roles in George of the Jungle, Big Daddy, The 40-Year Old Virgin, and the 2018 action comedy Blockers. The 40-year old virgin is streaming this month on Hulu.
Diana Ross was born in Detroit, Michigan today in 1944. Ross was the lead singer of the Supremes, has released several solo albums, and worked as an actress. She starred in films such as Lady Sings the Blues, The Wiz (with Michael Jackson) and the TV movie Out of Darkness.
Singer Steven Tyler from the band Aerosmith is turning 76. Tyler has been with the band since it started in 1970. In addition to singing, Tyler occasionally plays harmonica and percussion.
Jennifer Grey was born today in 1960. When it comes to 80s movie classics, Grey is front row center with leading roles playing Toni in Red Dawn, Jeanie Bueller in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Baby in Dirty Dancing. Most recently she was in A Real Pain with Jessie Eisenberg. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off is streaming now on Apple TV and Paramount plus.

Madonna released her 12th album, MDNA, today in 2012 and skyrocketed to number one on Billboard’s 200 album chart.
The Disney series Smart Guy premiered today in 1997. All three seasons of Smart Guy are streaming now on Disney plus.
In 2001 Gorillaz released their debut, self-titled album. Gorillaz went to number 14 on the album 200 and sold over a million copies.
The TV show Quantum Leap starring Scott Bakula premiered today in 1989. Quantum Leap is streaming now on Fubo and Peacock.
